I had an older version that was replaced by this model. I really wanted to get the exact same one that I had before, but could only find this one.I have absolutely no complaints. It’s easy and intuitive once you’ve used it a few times. I have no reason to think that it’s not accurate.

I have 5 kids and countless nieces and nephews and neighborhood friends. One thing that is priceless is a good thermometer to know when to treat sick kiddos (or send them home!) I started with a Braun, which I love and has been going strong for about 10 years. Although it still works strong, I decided to get another so I would have one for the home and one for travel (in car and camper). When searching I found a new thermometer that claimed to take measurements both in the ear and on the forehead for a similar price. Thinking this would work well for my one kid that doesn’t like the ear thermometer, I eagerly signed up. What a HUGE disappointment . . . it was complete and utter junk. Although there were tons of positive reviews, on revisiting I found that few to none were verified purchases, most were just added in (so were they real?) or free to review (so was the opinion real?). Most of the verified purchases were having the same problems I had. I so I came back to the tried and true and bought a new Braun. I am so pleased — so nice to take a teperature and get a reliable (and repeatable) temp! This is easy to use, comfortable to hold. I like the sensor covers and it comes with a small pack of replacements. The cradle design is more square than my old one and a little harder to get the thermometer in and out, but that is my ONLY complaint. Hopefully this will last as long as my original, and I have learned my lesson!!

My kids swear –
My two little ones seem to keep getting sick this year. I bought this as I tried the forehead and the oral thermometers, but both proved to be either inaccurate or difficult to use. When my 5 year old got Covid, I assumed my 1 year old had it too since he had the exact same symptoms. Luckily, they did not get very sick. I am so glad I had this thermometer, as I was taking their temps constantly. Both tolerated it very well, and didn’t mind at all. It is quick, easy, and accurate. I hope it lasts for a couple years at least!

I saw it at the vets office and was so happy that I could use it to take my dog’s temperature. My fur baby does not even know when I’m using it. Put it in her ear for a second and done. Love it.

There are three metrics for a body thermometer: accuracy, consistency and safety. The gold standard for the first two properties was the old mercury thermometer, which relied on the simplest of physical principles. Sadly, it failed on the last count. Individuals were rarely injured, but the overall environmental effect wasn’t acceptable. So the gold standard is gone.Digital thermometers exist in several forms. They’re generally safe (as long as disposed of properly), so the remaining metrics are accuracy and consistency. Of those, consistency may be the more important. If a thermometer is a consistent half-degree off, it’s easy to make a mental correction. After all, you’re more interested in the trend–not necessarily an completely accurate number.I had a little shoot-out between the Braun and a cheap grocery store digital thermometer. At four different periods in the day, I took my temperature several times in rapid succession (My wife wandered into the room at one point when I had one thermometer in my mouth and the other in my ear. I was happy the camera wasn’t nearby). The results were quite surprising. The oral thermometer gave me reliable measurements that didn’t vary by more than a tenth of a degree over the 5-minute measurement period. The Braun was all over the place, at one point swinging over a 1.2 degree (Fahrenheit) range. The measurement from left to right ear was never the same, but never in a predictable way. At its best, the variance was .3 (three-tenths) of a degree. That’s three times worse than the oral thermometer at its worst.I’ve always liked the tasteful appearance and solid quality of Braun products. But whether it’s a product problem or a basic problem with the reliability of the ear measurement, it’s hard to recommend it.

In a time when you can’t go anywhere without having a temp scan this is the way to go! *I only use this for home, no business purposes* As a mom I’ve had every thermometer you can have. Under the tongue/armpit, the forehead scanner, the thermal ambient temp scanner and this one is the best hands down. Pop a plastic cover on it place it in the ear canal and within a few seconds you have an easy to read temp that’s accurate. I do like the feature that this thermometer will not work if you don’t have the protective cap on it. They call it a filter protector and it’s great. It comes with 25ish I believe to start so you don’t have to purchase any separately right away. It also has a filter ejector which is a little button that pops the cap off so you don’t have to touch it. You can just open the trash can and pop it right in there. Easy and no fuss! It has a memory function which I personally don’t need, but could be useful for others. It can read in Celsius or Fahrenheit and a detailed instruction booklet that comes with it. Also includes the batteries so you don’t have to hunt around to find some or steal from your TV remote to get it working right away. The thermometer fits right inside the case along with a stack of filters for easy storage. 10/10
