This is a good quality pot and made for an awesome Christmas gift. I still hear from the person I gave it to how great it is. You can make anything in this pot and the quality holds up. And did I mention the price is much better than anything else you can find out there?

Owned it for a couple of weeks now and have used it twice: once to make gumbo, once to make broccoli-cheese soup. This beautiful dutch oven is, quite simply, perfect. For the record, I have also owned a larger, oval-shaped Staub cast iron dutch oven, and it is a wonderful piece that has made many an excellent meal for me and my family. In choosing this Amazon Basic dutch oven, I just needed something a bit smaller, and I preferred the lighter interior enamel as opposed to the black interior enamel on the Staub. For certain applications, such as making a roux, the lighter enamel is definitely a better choice. Now, I did see the negative reviews and pictures from 2018/19, showing chipped, flaking enamel. Niether of these reviews mentioned that Amazon offered to replace the defective items. I hoped that this must have been a fluke, or perhaps from a bad batch, and that this was an issue that has since been solved, as I was unable to find any negative reviews mentioning this problem in 2020, 2021, or 2022. So I did feel a tiny bit of initial apprehension upon ordering this dutch oven, but that fear has been laid to rest with its arrival. So far, so good, and if this changes, you can bet I will update this review with a vengeance! But for now, I am happy that I have obtained a quality cast iron product at a fraction of the price of those overpriced snob-appeal brands (you know the ones). So glad I saved my money!

This is a beautiful dutch oven and works wonderfully. Take note that it is very HEAVY, so be prepared when you are trying to pick it up when it is full. Surprised me with how heavy it is empty, which means it is a solid product, for sure!

  4. Book Lover

After one year and using it at least once a week, it has held up wonderfully. We have even cooked food in a hard red sauce and it just washes away. Love this so much!

This Dutch oven is VERY heavy, so be forewarned! It prob weighs 7 or 8 pounds. It is a nice pot for making soup , chili, stew, or for roasting a whole chicken or pot roast. The best thing is, you can start on the stove burner and then transfer the pot inside the oven for slow all-day roasting. It’s very versatile. Clean up is pretty easy, but I have not tried putting it in the dishwasher. I just think it’s too heavy to put in there. Overall I love this Dutch oven, I got the blue color and it’s beautiful 🙂

  6. Gorgina C.

It’s a great looking pan. I downsized from the 6 qt to the 4 qt because it was too heavy. This one is still too heavy for me but I can live with it to make fresh bread every week!

  7. Rae Bae

This is everything I’ve been searching for! I wanted something big enough to make enough soup/ stew/ pasta/ whatever to be able to freeze some of the left overs for later. This does the job! I love the color and the hefty-ness of it all!The one thing I don’t love was the packaging. It’s an amazon basics product so it came in regular amazon packaging, except it listed all the details of the product, along with a photo!, on the front of the box. So if any porch bandits were around they could have waltzed on up and known exactly what they were taking. Do better Amazon! I know porch bandits wouldn’t be deterred by just a plain box with no info but still. don’t post my product details on the outside of the shipping packaging.

  8. Amberlee

I’m scared it’ll slip out of my hands or chip in the sink as I’m cleaning it. It’s very heavy and awkward to clean. But it works so well! I really love this for soups and birria, Chili’s, etc. things that have a lot of water or liquid to them. I’m too scared to try this without the buffer of liquids because of the other reviews of it chipping and the enamel popping off the inside.

  9. Hazel H.

I love my Dutch oven! The ivory color and how I can cook large meals in one pot, having the confidence that meats will be falling of the bones😜Although is heavy and it hurts my hands ( arthritis) I use it often.

  10. Pimp Daddy

First off purple is my favorite color wish they had other types of cast iron pots oh well I lease I got this baby awesome to use and works as advertised
